Installing Support Software for the
Compaq Integrated Netelligent 10/100TX
Controller

IMPORTANT

This information applies only if you are reinstalling Microsoft

Windows NT Workstation on a Compaq Professional Workstation 6000 or
8000. If you complete the setup for the preinstalled software, the correct
support software for your controller has been installed on your workstation
and you do not need to follow these procedures.

You can also disregard these procedures if you plan to use SmartStart for
Workstations to reinstall software on your Professional Workstation.
SmartStart installs the support software for your controller automatically.
Refer to the

Software Installation Guide

for instructions on using SmartStart.

If you will be using the Compaq Integrated Netelligent 10/100TX
Controller on the Compaq Professional Workstation and you are
reinstalling Windows NT Workstation manually, you must install
updated support software for your controller to connect properly to
the network. The support software (Compaq SSD for Windows NT
version 1.20C or later) is located on the SmartStart for Workstations
CD and on the Compaq website at

http://www.compaq.com

. Do not

use other software drivers for this controller.

Note:

If you plan to use MS-DOS to install your operating system from a

network, download the support software from the Compaq website at
http://www.compaq.com. Use v1.20C or later.

Installing the Support Software for
Windows NT Workstation 4.0

To install the support software for the controller, follow these steps:

1.

With Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 installed
and running, log in with administrator privileges.

2.

Insert the SmartStart for Workstations CD.

3.

Click Start, Run.

4.

Type

X

:\NTSSD\SETUP.EXE

(where X is your CD-ROM

drive designation), then click OK.

5.

Click Express, then click Update.

6.

When the support software has been installed, click
Exit.

7.

When prompted, restart your system to activate the
installed drivers and remove the CD.

For more information about using the Compaq SSD for
Windows NT, click Help in the main Setup window.

Installing the Support Software for
Windows NT Workstation 3.51

IMPORTANT

Before you can install the support software for your controller,

you must download the Compaq SSD for Windows NT from the Compaq
website at http://www.compaq.com. Use v1.20C or later in diskette format.

To install the support software for the controller, follow these steps:

1.

With Windows NT Workstation 3.51 installed and
running, log in with administrator privileges.

2.

Insert SSD diskette 1.

3.

From the Program Manager menu, select File, Run.

4.

Type A:\

SETUP.EXE

, then click OK.

5.

Click Express, then click Update.

6.

When the support software has been installed, click
Exit.

7.

When prompted, restart your system to activate the
installed drivers and remove the diskette.

For more information about using the Compaq SSD for
Windows NT, click Help in the main Setup window.


