Levelling hydraulic lifting
cylinders
The chassis of the Terrano 10 and 12 FG is
equipped with hydraulically synchronized cyl-
inders.
With synchronized cylinders the hydraulic oil
from the piston rod chamber is pressed into the
piston chamber of the next cylinder.
In extended condition the cylinder base valves
are opened and allow the oil to flow to the next
cylinder. The cylinders are filled with oil, bled
and all cylinders are aligned to end stop (see
hydraulic diagram).
The slave cylinders are smaller in diameter
to ensure that there is no change in the lifting
distance.
The lifting cylinders on the wing are connected
in series with the centre section lift cylinders and
therefore always lift parallel.
Synchronized cylinders
The cylinders must be levelled af-
ter assembly and repair work in the
hydraulic system, but also regularly
during operation and when changing
depth settings.
The procedure has to be repeated depending on
the number of cylinders, the installation position
and the pump capacity.
Setting the working depth
Aluminium clips of identical colour (thickness)
and quantity must be removed or added at lift-
ing cylinders and support wheels to adjust the
desired working depth.
The ratio for this is approx. 1:2. This means: If
an aluminium clip of 1 cm thickness is removed/
added, the working depth will change by 2 cm.
The next possible height setting is indicated by
the stickers on the cylinder.
The colour combinations are identical with the
aluminium clips.
Both the depth setting and the horizontal posi-
tion of the cultivator in working position must
be checked across the entire width of the ma-
chine.
The working depth must be checked before start-
ing work and, during work in large fields.
On Terrano 8, 10 and 12 FG the lifting cylinders
are connected in series.
To enable even lifting of the Terrano at all times
the cylinders must be levelled regularly before
starting work and, during work in large fields.
