Carburetor Synchronization
NOTE

Refer to section 2 of the Common Service Manual
for carbu retor synchron ization procedu re.
•
Synchronize the carbu retors with the engine at nor­
mal operati ng tem perature, the tra nsm ission i n neu­
tra l and the m oto rcyc l e s u p p o rted sec u rely o n a
level surface.
Remove the left and right middle covers.
Remove the No. 2 cyli nder i ntake port vacuum plug.
Connect the vacuum gauge adaptor to the No. 2 cyl inder
i ntake port.
D i sco n n ect t h e N o . 4 cyl i n d e r vacu u m t u b e fro m t h e
engine intake port, a pply vacuum t o t h e d isconnected tu be
and pinch the tube with a clip.
Connect the vac u u m g a u g e tube to the No. 4 cyl i n d e r
i ntake p o rt adaptor.
49 States type:
Remove the No. 1 cylinder i ntake port vacuum plug.
Connect the vacuum gauge adaptor to the No. 1 cyl i nder
i ntake port.
California type:
D i sco n n ect t h e N o . 1 cyl i n d e r vac u u m t u b e from t h e
engine i ntake port.
C o n n ect the vac u u m g a u g e t u be to the N o . 1 cyl i n der
i ntake port adaptor.
49 States type:
Remove the No. 3 cyli nder i ntake port vacu u m plug.
Connect the vacuum gauge adaptor to the No. 3 cyl inder
i ntake port.
California type:
D i sco n n ect the N o . 3 cyl i n d e r vac u u m t u b e fro m t h e
engine i ntake port.
Connect the vacu u m g a u g e tube to the N o . 3 cyl i nd e r
i ntake port adaptor.
