TOP WING INSTALLATION
1.
Install the wing tube in the top wing, then slide the tube
into the top wing center section. Connect the servo lead,
then slide the wing panel tight against the center section.
2.
Secure the top wing panels to the top wing center
section using two 6-32 x 1/2-inch socket head cap
screws and four #6 washers. Use a 7/64-inch hex
wrench to tighten the screws.
3.
Attach the outer interplane strut to the top wing using
two 4-40 x 1/2-inch socket head cap screws and two
#4 washers. Tighten the screws using a 3/32-inch hex
wrench.
4.
Attach the outer interplane strut to the bottom wing
using two 4-40 x 1/2-inch socket head cap screws and
two #4 washers. Tighten the screws using a 3/32-inch
hex wrench. Repeat the previous steps to install the
remaining top and bottom wing panels and the remaining
outer wing strut.
STABILIZER AND ELEVATOR INSTALLATION
1.
Separate the left elevator from the stabilizer. The hinges
for the right elevator have been fully glued.
2.
Slide the stabilizer into the slot in the fuselage. Measure
from the fuselage to each stabilizer tip and adjust so both
measurements are equal. Measure from each wing tip
to each stabilizer tip and adjust so both measurements
are equal.
3.
Stand back 8 to 10 feet (2 to 3 meters) and view the
model directly from the rear. Check that the stabilizer is
aligned equally with the wing panels. Lightly sand the
fuselage to correct if out of alignment.
4.
Once the stabilizer has been aligned, use a felt-tipped
pen to transfer the outline of the fuselage onto the top
and bottom of the stabilizer.
5.
Remove the stabilizer from the fuselage. Carefully trim
the covering in the center of the stabilizer using a hobby
knife and new #11 blade. Cut inside the lines 1/16-inch
(2mm). Use caution not to cut into the underlying wood
which can weaken the stabilizer. Remove the lines made
by the pen using a paper towel and isopropyl alcohol.
6.
Slide the stabilizer partially into the fuselage. Brush a
layer of 30-minute epoxy on the exposed wood of the
stabilizer. Make sure to apply epoxy to both the top and
bottom of the stabilizer.
