Chapter 4 VG Configuration
4-16
Note:
z
VG 10-10/10-11 adopts G.711U when performing fax transparent transmission. It is
recommended to set the peer to G.711U when the voice gateway interoperates with
the peer device.
z
When the VG10-10/10-11 voice gateway interoperates by fax with other VG series
voice gateways (such as VG 10-40/10-41), if using VBD transparent transmission
mode, you need to disable the peer fax rate and configure the two-party voice
coding/decoding negotiation to G.711U. If using PCM transparent transmission
mode, you need to configure the peer voice gateway to use the same mode and
configure the two-party voice coding/decoding negotiation to G.711U.
z
In the voice coding/decoding negotiation process, there is no difference between
the rate G.723r53 and G.723r63. Therefore, to prevent one-way conversation, VG
10-10/10-11 does not allow to select the coding/decoding rates simultaneously in
the voice coding/decoding preference scheme.
z
VG 10-10/10-11 enables mute suppression function by default. When the system
detects the mute, it suppresses it, so as to save bandwidth or even not to occupy
bandwidth at all; when the system detects voice signal, it performs compression,
coding and transmission again. Mute suppression function helps to enhance the
channel bandwidth utilization.
z
By default, VG 10-10/10-11 voice gateway transmits DTMF code in band.
4.4 System Management
