H3C SR6608/6604 Routers Installation Manual
Chapter 5 Installing the Router
5-28
1) Install an FIP-100/FIP-200 in an LPU slot on the router. For the installation
procedure, refer to section 8.5.2 “Installing FIP-100/FIP-200” in Chapter 8
“Maintaining Hardware”. Skip this step if an FIP-100/FIP-200 is already installed.
2) Install a 2SAE/4SAE/8SAE interface module to a sub-slot on the FIP-100/FIP-200.
For the installation, refer to section 8.10 “Installing and Removing an MIM” in
Chapter 8 “Maintaining Hardware”.
3) Identify the interface type of the peer device, and select a correct synchronous
serial cable.
4) Connect the DB-28 connector of the synchronous serial cable to the DB-28
interface on the SAE module.
5) In a digital data network (DDN), connect the cable to the CSU/DSU interface.
6) Check the status of the LINK LED on the SAE module panel after connecting the
cable:
z
If the LED is on, a link is present.
z
If the LED is off, the line is faulty and signal synchronization fails. In this case, you
need to check the line.
X. Connecting an 8E1(75)/8E1(75)-F interface module cable
Caution:
z
Pay attention to the interface identifications to prevent damage to the interface
module or the router due to wrong connection.
z
For lightning protection, equip a special lightning arrester at the input end of an
external 8E1(75)/8E1(75)-F interface module cable.
Follow these steps to connect an 8E1(75)/8E1(75)-F interface module cable:
1) Install an FIP-100/FIP-200 in an LPU slot on the router. For the installation, refer to
section 8.5.2 “Installing FIP-100/FIP-200” in Chapter 8 “Maintaining Hardware”.
Skip this step if an FIP-100/FIP-200 is already installed.
2) Install an 8E1(75)/8E1(75)-F interface module in a sub-slot on the
FIP-100/FIP-200. For the installation, refer to section 8.10 “Installing and
Removing an MIM” in Chapter 8 “Maintaining Hardware”.
3) Connect the DB-68 connector of a 8E1 splitter cable (75 ohms) to a DB-68
interface on the 8E1(75)/8E1(75)-F interface module, and then tighten the
strain-relief screws.
4) Confirm the sequence numbers of the BNC connectors at the other end of the 8E1
splitter cable and the Tx and Rx ports.
