H3C SR6608/6604 Routers Installation Manual
Chapter 5 Installing the Router
5-25
2) Install an 8FE interface module into a sub-slot of the FIP-200. For the installation
method, refer to section 8.9 “Installing and Removing an HIM” in Chapter 8
“Maintaining Hardware”.
3) Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet interface on the 8FE
interface module, and the other end to an Ethernet interface on the peer device.
Since the Ethernet interfaces on the 8FE interface module support automatic
MDI/MDI-X, the Ethernet cable can be a straight-through Ethernet cable or a
crossover Ethernet cable.
4) Check the status of the corresponding LED on the front panel. For the description
of the LED, see Table 2-1 in Chapter 2 “Interface Modules”.
II. Connecting a 2GBE/4GBE/8GBE interface module cable
Follow these steps to connect a 2GBE/4GBE/8GBE interface module cable:
1) Install an FIP-100/FIP-200 in an LPU slot on the router. For the installation
procedure, refer to section 8.5.2 “Installing an FIP-100/FIP-200” in Chapter 8
“Maintaining Hardware”. Skip this step if the FIP-100/FIP-200 is already installed.
2) Install a 2GBE/4GBE/8GBE to a sub-slot on the FIP-100/FIP-200.
z
For the installation of a 2GBE interface module, refer to section 8.10 “Installing
and Removing an MIM” in Chapter 8 “Maintaining Hardware”.
z
For the installation of a 4GBE/8GBE interface module, refer to section 8.9
“Installing and Removing an HIM” in Chapter 8 “Maintaining Hardware”.
Note:
A 2GBE can be installed on an FIP-100 or FIP-200, while a 4GBE or 8GBE can be
installed only on an FIP-200.
3) Connect one end of the network cable to the Ethernet interface of the
2GBE/4GBE/8GBE interface module, and the other end to the Ethernet interface
on the peer device. Because the interfaces of a 2GBE/4GBE/8GBE support
MDI/MDIX auto-sensing, you can use a straight-through cable or crossover cable
to connect an interface.
4) Check the following after connection:
z
For a 2GBE interface module, check the LINK LED status on the module panel. If
the LED is on, a link is present; if the LED is off, no link is present.
z
For a 4GBE/8GBE interface module, check the status of the LED on the module
panel. For the status of the LED, see Table 2-3 in Chapter 2 “Interface Modules”.
III. Connecting a CL1P/CL2P interface module cable
The CL1P/CL2P interface module uses optical fiber cables with LC connectors. For
details, refer to section 2.1.3 V “Interface cable” in Chapter 2 “Interface Modules”.
