Fig. 17
The saw backlash may occur when the piece grasps the
chain or the rail tip touches the object.
It may happen then that the guide rail (the bar) will
immediately spring up in the direction of the operator.
Fig. 18
The backlash risk is imminent in result of a foreign
matter contact with the upper quarter of the bar tip.
Fig. 19
The risk resulting from the rail grasp, e.g. at a
change of position at felling consists in developing
forces that may close the cutting fissure down.
Fig. 20
The risk of backlash or moving the saw away in
result of grasp of the saw along the upper/lower
edge.
Felling and Trimming Trees
Only persons qualified as required are allowed to fell
and trim trees.
Follow the effective felling regulations. Make sure
that no persons are in the area of the tree to be cut
and they are not exposed to any danger. Various
calls and cries can be easily overheard due to the
engine noise.
Direction of the tree falling and escape routes has to
determine before the work is started.
While doing so, follow the instructions below:
•
Single out clearance in the area, which the tree
should fall in.
•
Respect the natural inclination of the tree.
•
Mind the wind speed and direction (never fell if
the wind is strong)
•
Take the slope direction in consideration.
•
Take account of the trees around or felling
works around (the distance to the nearest felling
site should always be 2
1
/
2
multiple of the tree
length)
•
The escape routes should always be at ca
45°anglewise to the felling direction. Make sure
that there are not any obstacles on the escape
routes. When the slope is steep, the escape
routes should be in parallel with the slope.
The felling description below is purely symbolic and
the felling itself should be done by qualified person-
nel only.
Fig. 21
The under cut shall determine the tree fall. First
make a horizontal cut at an angle of 45°. Take care
to place the cuts as low at the base as possible. The
cut depth shall be ca 1/5 - 1/3 of the trunk diameter.
Fig. 22
To prevent the long-fibre species wood from tearing
up, make set-up in the sapwood. Avoid the undercuts
at ill wood.
Fig. 23
Now, you can make the main cut as per the picture.
Always take care to see than nobody is close the
tree to be cut l.
The main cut should be made a little above the
horizontal undercut. An unfinished piece of a size of
ca 1/10 of the trunk diameter should be left between
the main cut and the undercut. Remember to insert
an expander wedge in the undercut on time to
prevent grasping the saw blade.
Always Work Safely and Considerately
1. Hold the saw with both your hands tightly and
safely!
2. Never use the bar tip for cutting!
3. Always cut wood and wooden objects only!
4. Be considerate while working and do not expose
anybody to danger when cutting. Be calm and
considerate when working!
5. Do not work unless the visual and lighting conditions
are good.
6. Observe the rail tip!
7. Never cut several pieces or timber at a time!
8. Never cut above your shoulders height!
9. If you continue a cut started formerly, pay maximum
attention to inserting the rail in the cut!
10. Always use a well sharpened, tensed up and
properly lubricated chain.
11. Put in the saw hook-type rail safely.
12. Never work standing on a ladder!
13. Work on firm and stable bases only.
No part of your body should be in the saw
chain extended operational range! (fig. 24)
Maintenance and Care Instructions
The instructions below shall apply to regu-
lar conditions of use. In severe conditions like
dust nuisance, resin high content wood or pro-
longed time of use in a day, it is necessary to
shorten the interval as appropriate.
Prior to getting down to work, always check
•
Gas lever, gas lever lock
•
Chain brake functioning
•
The entire machine, visually
•
Chain lubrication condition
•
Chain
tension
•
Sharpening
condition
•
The guide bar for any wear and tear and damage
Having completed the work, check
The entire machine and clean it up
Regular check and treatment:
•
Check the lob oil tank for any leakage etc.
•
Check the air filter Fig
. 25
(clean it up if necessary)
•
Check the ignition plug Fig
. 26
(replace if neces-
sary)
•
Engine idle run (see also Chapter 11 – Starting up
Engine)
•
Check the chain for sharpening
•
Always put the chain saw off prior to any repair or
maintenance.
-Take care to have the saw blade firmly fitted while
doing so. .
It is recommended to use our chain sharpener
(ordering No. 94090) to keep the saw sharp and
working well. Prescribed sharpening angles may be
observed as due then.
