Install the nosewheel steering servo, the retract system servo and the retract system
valve on the appropriate support plate in the fuselage, together with the two cruciform
connectors and the compressed air tank.
The central nipple on the retract valve serves to fill the air tank using a one-way
valve, while the two outer ones are used to retract and extend the wheels. Adjust the
servo travel until the system works reliably.
Assembling and installing the fueltank
Cut a piece of fuel tubing and push it onto the fueltank clunk weight. Push the free
end of the fuel tubing onto one of the tubes in the fueltank stopper, and check that
the clunk will be able to move freely inside the tank
without
binding or jamming when
the stopper is in place. Use a heat-gun or a match to heat the projecting plastic tubes
slightly; this will soften them, so that they can be curved to the shape shown in the
illustration. Check that one pipe points down (filler line) and one up (vent line; this is
the overflow when you are filling the tank). Extend these two pipes with fuel tubing so
that they reach the top and bottom of the tank. Push the stopper into the tank and
tighten the cross-point clamping screw. Ensure that the screw is tight enough to seal
the fueltank completely. You can check this by holding the tank under water: blow
into the tubes and watch carefully: if bubbles rise, there is a leak which
must
be
sealed.
Cut three pieces of fuel tubing and push them onto the tubes where they exit the
fueltank.
Mark the fuel lines using a felt-tip pen to indicate which is the fuel feed, the overflow
and the filler.
Now fit the fueltank into the fuselage through the wing saddle, threading the three
fuel tubes through the hole in the nose bulkhead.
Connect the fuel feed line (clunk) to the carburettor, and extend the overflow down
and out of the cowl. The refuelling line can later be routed out of the model through a
hole in the cowl; it should be sealed with a stopper when the tank is full. Fit a rubber
band round the rear of the fueltank to prevent it shifting in flight.
If you have installed a G 26 petrol engine, please note that the petrol-proof
fueltank stopper, Order No. 133, must be fitted instead of the standard black
fueltank stopper. Silicone fuel tubing is not suitable for use with petrol.
The ON / OFF switch can be installed in the right-hand fuselage side: locate the
opening which suits the switch you intend to use, melt or cut away the film over it,
and screw the switch unit in place as shown.
Canopy and cockpit fittings
The cockpit interior should be fitted out as shown in the photographs: glue the seat
backrests over the slots in the cockpit floor, and glue the dummy pilot in place.
