1. Filtration Bottom (FB) step {coming from the Standby mode}
a. Start the Filtration Bottom timer (T111).
b. Open Feed Bottom Valve, Feed Vent Valve, Permeate Vent Valve, and Permeate
Valve.
c. Start the Alum Pump (if not already running).
d. Start the train’s Feed Pump and ramp up with a time of (T101).
e. The PLC uses the Feed Flow PID Loop to maintain flow at the proper setpoint
(Q111) using the Feed Flow Meter and the Feed Pump VFD. The setpoint is
adjusted to maintain the level in the Feed Tank (T2001) and to split the flow evenly
between the UF trains in Filtration.
f. When the Filtration Bottom timer is done, the step is complete.
2. Forward Flush Bottom (FFB) step
a. Start the Forward Flush Bottom timer (T112).
b. Open Backwash Top Valve.
c. Close Permeate Valve.
d. Once the Forward Flush timer is done, Feed Pump is ramped down with a time of
(T102) and then stopped (no other trains in Filtration).
e. Stop the Alum Pump (if no other train in Filtration or Forward Flush).
f. Close Feed Bottom Valve.
g. The step is now complete.
3. Backwash Bottom (BWB) step
a. Start the Backwash Bottom timer (T113).
b. Open Backwash Inlet Valve and Backwash Top Valve.
c. Start two of the Backwash Pumps, and ramp them up with a time of (T103).
d. The PLC uses the Backwash Flow PID Loop to maintain flow at the proper setpoint
(Q112) using the Backwash Flow Meter FT6001 and the pump speeds. The speed of
both pumps will be set to the same output.
e. Once the Backwash Bottom timer is done, the Backwash Pumps are ramped down
with a time of (T104).
f. When the ramp down timer is done, stop Backwash Pumps and close Backwash Inlet
Valve and Backwash Top Valve.
g. The step is now complete.
4.
Filtration Top (FT) step
a. Start the Filtration Top timer (T114).
b. Open Feed Top Valve and Permeate Valve.
c. Start the Alum Pump (if not already running).
d. Start the train’s Feed Pump and ramp up with a time of (T101).
e. The PLC uses the Feed Flow PID Loop to maintain flow at the proper setpoint
(Q111) using the Feed Flow Meter and the Feed Pump VFD. The setpoint is adjusted
to maintain the level in the Feed Tank (T2001) and to split the flow evenly between
the UF trains in Filtration.
f. When the Filtration Top timer is done, the step is complete.
