5.9 „Mode“ and „Rec.“ - Buttons for Navigation
and Voice Recording
The buttons „Mode“ and „Rec.“ together with the „Mode“
switch and the switch to select the field type permit to make
use of the whole scope of features of the instrument.
For just measuring the 3D magnetic field or the 3D electric
field they are not needed.
A technically absurd selection will be signalled on the display
by „Err.” until the setting has been rectified.
= Change of display mode or “Step ahead”
The configuration of the “Mode”-button is context sensitive.
If the “Mode”-button on the left is on “Auto”, the NFA recognizes probes connected
to it, and shows the corresponding values. If no probe is connected to the instru-
ment, it shows the selected 3D field type.
Click on the button “Mode>” to switch from one display to the other. The respec-
tive values which are being measured “in the background” are signalised by a
short blinking of the corresponding unit-LED.
If the “Mode”-button on the left is on “Band” or “Freq.”,
Click on the button “Mode>” to select the next frequency band (signalised by the
corresponding LEDs), and additionally the axis per band in the mode “XYZ”.
Click on “Mode” and “Rec>” at the same time to have the axis shown automati-
cally one after the other in an infinite loop until one of the buttons is again activa-
ted.
= Record an audio note
While this button is pressed (plus 10 seconds beyond) , the internal microphone is activated to accept your live
comments during the measurement. During this operation the acoustic signal is switched off. The microphone is
positioned just over the „rec.” button (marked by the hole in the casing lid). It is sufficiently sensitive to pick up
language from a few metres distance. While the “rec.” button is pressed for taking your notes, they will be re-
corded in parallel to the ongoing measurement on all four channels. During the ex post processing on your PC of
the data collected the voice recordings are marked in the graphic representation right at the point of recording,
and can be replayed right there.
