Section 4 • Repair Procedures

REV A

39 Place blocks under each of the lower secondary

boom leveling links for support at the turntable
pivot end.

40 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from both of

the upper pivot to lower secondary boom
leveling link pivot pins. Use a soft metal drift to
remove the pins, then remove the upper pivot
from the machine.

Crushing hazard. The upper pivot
could become unbalanced and fall
when removed from the machine
is not properly supported by the
overhead crane.

41 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane to

the center of the engine side lower secondary
boom leveling link.

42 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the

engine side lower leveling link pivot pin at the
mid-pivot.

43 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pin, then

remove the engine side lower secondary boom
leveling link from the machine.

Crushing hazard. The engine side
lower secondary boom leveling
link could become unbalanced and
fall when removed from the
machine if not properly supported
by the overhead crane.

44 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane to

the center of the ground controls side lower
secondary boom leveling link.

45 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the

ground controls side lower leveling link pivot pin
at the mid-pivot.

46 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pin, then

remove the ground controls side lower
secondary boom leveling link from the machine.

the compression link.
