Port Mirroring
The Port Mirroring feature allows traffic from one or more switch ports to be forwarded to a capture
port for traffic analysis and monitoring. An Analyzer or RMON probe connected to the capture port
can then process the traffic data and build reports useful in netowrk analysis, problem solving and
security monitoring.
Figure 5-6 , Figure 5-7 , and Figure 5-8 show typical installations of SCES with port mirroring in
use and with some ports configured for Ingress, some for Egress, and some for both traffic
directions. In each example, seven 10/100Base-T ports are connected to seven hosts, port 8 is
connected as an uplink to a router, and port 9 is configured as the mirror capture port.
• For help in setting ethernet security parameters, type:
configure mirroring ?
• To show the status of Port Mirroring on each port, type:
show mirror
