Large Network Applications
Figure 1-3 shows how the SCES may be used in a larger network. A Carrier can manage equipment
using a SCES at one Central Office location which has multiple remote sites (CEVs). Similarly,
multiple COs can also deploy the SCES. Such large-network deployment of the SC-ES provides
LAN connectivity from the Central site (NOC) all the way out to multiple remote sites.
The example network shown below, a future SpectraComm product, the SCEX-T3 card, can
provide the broadband router/bridge functions at the central site and central office.
Note
As shown in Figure 1-3 , SC-ES ports may be used to cascade switches together; likewise, SC-IP ports can be
used to cascade routers together.

For clarity, one SC-ES card and two SC-IP cards are shown in Figure 1-3 ’s Central Office shelf. In high
density applications, more SC-ES and SC-IP cards can be installed in a shelf to connect with remote sites
through additional T1 lines.
