Purpose and scope 

This  appendix  details  how  to  use  the  Locking  Mechanism  on  a  Direct  Mount  Cradle-
installed MINITRANS so as to prepare a transformer for transit. Typically this occurs in the 
following scenarios: 

 

On a mobile transformer (one that is moved from site to site). 

 

On any transformer where a MINITRANS is pre-installed prior to shipping. 

But equally applies to any scenario where there is a requirement to move or relocate a 
transformer with a pre-installed MINITRANS. 

The appendix details how to install and uninstall the following locks: 

 

Exterior cradle transit lock 

 

Interior mini PGA transit lock

Safety considerations 

It  is  important  to  follow  the  procedures  defined  in  this  document  to  maintain  the 
warranty and avoid: 

 

A safety risk during installation, operation and transit. 

 

Impaired  functionality,  since  increased  noise  to  the  sensor  would  invalidate  the 
readings as noise test results are logged for every measurement. 

 

The  primary  earth  must  be  installed

.  Since  the  silicone  isolators  provide  a 

degree  of  electrical  isolation  from  Ground,  the  importance  of  installing  the 
primary earth increases (see Section 9). 

 

Ensure  that  when  accessing  the  interior  of  the  enclosure  that  the  mains 
electrical supply is isolated before the enclosure door is opened. Follow the site 
lock out-tag out (LOTO) procedure. 

Note: the product may have more than one electrical 

supply.
