3.5 ADJUSTMENT

Before starting a mowing session, adjust the machine so that the best working setup is obtained. Correct machine setup guarantees
excellent mowing, allows for the best machine-tractor performance and remarkably reduces wear of the cutting blades.

3.5.1 CUTTING HEIGHT

Adjust the cutting height of the bar by choosing the most suitable of the three available positions (F, Fig. 20) for fastening the skids
located under the right and left mowing bar supports. When the surface of the ground is uneven or when the blades get clogged with
earth, lift the bar from the ground, i.e. top hole  in the worst cases and bottom hole for even ground.

3.5.2 CUTTING ANGLE

Using the tractor's third point tie-rod (C, Fig. 21), moreover, it is possible to adjust the inclination to the ground of the bar teeth. If the
fodder grass has difficulty in flowing freely, reduce the inclination of the bar.

3.5.3 SPRING-TYPE SHOCK ABSORBER

Adjust the weight of the bar on the ground with the help of the
chain. When the mower is lowered and the two skids touch the
ground, the spring must be tensioned so as to:
- balance the weight, most of which is on the left side of the

mower, due to the drive unit and the connecting rod system;

- lighten the bar so that it runs more smoothly over the fodder

grass.

If the land is extremely rough and uneven, do not lighten the bar
too much as this would prevent it from responding promptly to
the irregularity of the ground. When the adjustments have been
completed, mark the appropriate link on the chain so as to
relocate the correct adjustment position each time the mower is
re-attached to the tractor.
