Attach the spring so that it connects the lower right coupling
(on the left in view in Figure 14) and the pin of the third point
on the tractor.

IMPORTANT! use the tractor arms in floating position.

The spring must still be fitted even if there is a shock
absorption unit on the tractor lifting unit.

3.2 TRANSMISION

3.2.1 CARDAN SHAFT ADAPTION

The universal joint supplied with the mower is of standard length:
it has, therefore, to be adapted to the tractor to be used. Slide out
the two halves of the shaft, attach one part to the tractor and the
other to the mower. Lift and lower the hydraulic lifting unit with a
view to finding the minimum sliding length (L, Fig. 15) checking,
moreover, that the universal joint can, in fact, be further shortened
when, in the case of a blow, the mower safety device triggers (see
paragraph 2.1).
Cut the outer plastic and the inner metal pipe to the same length
for both pieces of the joint then reassemble it (Fig. 15). Activate
the lifting unit and ensure that the universal joint slides without
creating friction.

3.2.2 CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT:

in the event of coupling with tractors that have their P.T.O located
very near to the ground, a special universal joint with a constant
velocity joint is supplied, on request, instead of the standard one.
The constant velocity universal joint must be fitted when, during
operation, the two joints form unequal angles or, at any event,
angles exceeding 35 degrees of inclination; if a normal universal
joint were to be used, the speed of rotation would be transmitted
irregularly, causing the mower to vibrate. This problem is
particularly noticeable when the mower is raised by the lifting unit
(see Fig. 16). When, on the other hand, a constant velocity
universal joint is used, transmission is regular at any joint angle
up to 70 degrees.

WARNING

- Check the length of the universal joint each time the tractor is

changed.

- Lubricate the universal joint following the manufacturer's

instructions

- Do not use the universal joint without the guard and always

attach this guard using the chain provided.

3.2.3 TRANSFER CASES

The

model front mowers are equipped with gear transfer cases

all along the drive. The machines are manufactured with gear
ratios suitable for an input speed of 540 rev/min as standard. The
machine is supplied with a transfer case for an input speed of
1000 rev/min on request only.

WARNING!

Check on delivery and each time that the tractor is changed that
the

speed of rotation

of the P.T.O. corresponds to that provided

for on the mower (540 or 1000 rev/min.). The wrong choice of
engine speed can lead to breakages at various points of the drive
and of the cutting parts, for which

all responsibility.
