1.2.1
Body and Door
The body
q
and the door
w
are the basic elements of the
PS-500. They are connected with two hinge pins. One
hinge pin can be pulled to open the PS-500. The other
hinge pin serves only as a hinge to swing the door. When
installed to the Rotary Table, the PS-500 is almost flush
mounted to the rig floor. Four hoisting eyes are fastened
to the body for transportation tasks. The PS-500 can be
installed in all common Rotary Tables.
1.2.2
Hydraulic Centering Guide System [HCGS]
The HCGS centers the pipe and guides the drill string. Both
processes take place before setting the Slips and are used
to prevent the drill string from hitting against the Inserts.
The HCGS consists of two identical modules in which the
Guide Plates are guided eccentrically in a
dove-tail groove. This prevents the Guide Plates from
falling out even when not fastened properly. When
the HCGS is opened, each of the modules are locked
automatically by a special mechanism, which guarantees
high safety. The operator can only release this lock
manually. The Guide Plates are opened and closed by
hydraulic cylinders. The HCGS can be switched on and off
as required using a control valve in the upper section of
the body.
CAUTION
Always ensure that the right size Guide
Plates are installed for the respective pipe diameter.
1.2.3
Slip and Insert Carrier Assembly
Insert Carriers
q
are inserted to the Slip Assembly and
provide direct contact to the drill string by the Inserts. Each
Slip has one Insert Carrier, whose position is dictated by
the geometry. The Slip Assembly
w
serves as a frame for
the Insert Carriers. The Slip Assembly consists of three Slip
segments. All segments are connected with hinge pins.
The middle segment is attached to the lifting cylinders
of the PS-500. An adaptation of the PS-500 to another
tube size only requires an exchange of the existing Insert
Carriers. These can easily be lifted from the top of the
PS-500. The Slip Assembly remains in the PS-500.
CAUTION
Always ensure that the right sized Insert
Carrier are installed for the respective pipe diameter.
