Scan parameters are settings that affect the captured data and the scan
duration.
To understand how scan parameters will affect the captured data, it is
important to understand how the scanner works.

Laser scanners emit laser light, which is reflected off of surfaces in the
scan area, and then reflected back to the scanner. The scanners then use
various algorithms and mathematical equations to measure the location
and reflectivity of scan points in the scan area.

The word laser is derived from the acronym for Light Amplification by
Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER).
Lasers are defined as devices that generate intense beams of coherent
(having a constant phase difference between waves), monochromatic
light or other electromagnetic radiation by stimulated emission of
photons from excited atoms or molecules.
