15. Lace an upper flange inner spoke through the one hole in
a spoke hole group that points toward the spoke.
16. Lubricate the threads, and screw a spoke nipple onto the
end of the upper flange inner spoke a few turns.
17. Repeat this procedure until all upper flange inner spokes
are loosely attached.

18. Lace an upper flange outer spoke through the one hole in
a spoke hole group that points toward the spoke.
19. Lubricate the threads, and screw a spoke nipple onto the
end of the upper flange outer spoke a few turns.
20. Repeat this procedure until all upper flange outer spokes
are loosely attached.
21. True the wheel (see TRUING WHEEL page 12-14) .

1. Mark the center of one of the ten spoke groups with a
piece of tape.
2. Mark the center of the spoke group directly across the
rim (180°) with a piece of tape.
3. Mark the center of two more spoke groups that lie directly
across the rim (180°) from each other, and are approximately
90° from the first two marked groups.
4. Lubricate and tighten the nipples of these four groups
finger tight. Make sure all other spokes are loose.

5. Mount the wheel assembly in a truing stand. Tighten the
arbor nuts so the wheel rotates smoothly on its bearings.
6. Lay a straight edge across the stamped text flange and
one of the marked spoke groups. Measure the distance
between the straightedge and the edge of the rim, and
subtract the thickness of the straight edge to obtain the offset
measurement.
