Maintenance 

8.1

 

Safety Information 

 

WARNING

 

Refer all servicing and maintenance to qualified personnel. 

Only suitably trained and competent staff should be carrying out the 
procedures in this chapter. 

 

 

WARNING

 

Electric shock. 

The control unit contains lethal voltages! Ensure the power supply is 
switched off and isolated before opening the unit enclosures. 

 

 

WARNING

 

Electric shock. 

Hazardous voltage levels are still present when the main power supply 
fuse has failed. (Refer to the relevant control unit manual for information 
on how to change the fuse, provided the fuse is user replaceable.) 

 

 

WARNING

 

Danger from the process. 
It is possible that the sensors are to be installed in ducting containing 
process particulate that is a hazard to health.  
Unless the process conditions are known to be entirely safe, suitable 
precautions such as the use of breathing apparatus or duct 
purging/detoxifying must be employed before any entry is made into the 
duct for installation or maintenance purposes.  

If in doubt, consult your local Safety Officer and/or local safety 
procedures. 

 

 

CAUTION

 

Do not rotate the sensor by its enclosure as this can damage the sensor 
resulting in incorrect readings. 

8.2

 

Maintenance Mode 

Maintenance mode allows sensors to be disabled for routine maintenance. There 
are three ways of disabling a sensor: 

•

 

Power OFF the control 

unit: this removes power from all sensors in the 

network. A ‘Power Interruption’

 alarm will be recorded in the Event log 

indicating the maintenance period. A gap will appear in all emission logs. 

•

 

Disconnect the sensor from the network

: if the sensors are connected to 

the network using spurs, it is possible to physically disconnect the sensor 

from the network without affecting polling to the other sensors. A ‘No
