7 Quality Assurance and Sensor Self-Tests
ENVEA
UK Ltd
(PC-000855-MA Issue 6, December 2021)
31
The following main sensor self-tests are provided:
•
Zero and Span checks: used to check for faults with the sensor hardware.
•
Contamination check (short-circuit check): indicate the probe needs
cleaning.
The QA/Self-Tests menu screen displays the latest self-test results for the
currently selected sensor (default: Stack1 Dust). The choice of sensor is made
from the
Device
drop-down list at the top of the menu screen. Press the
Activate
button next to a test to run it. For each test, the display alternates between PASS
or FAIL and the numerical result of the test: the meaning of the results is explained
in
7.2.2
Zero and Span Checks
These checks are used to test the correct functioning of the sensor. The QA screen
shows Zero / Span check results for the main probe (used for measurement).
Failure of these tests suggests the sensor may be physically damaged in some
way.
7.2.3
Short-circuit Check (Contamination Check)
The Short-circuit check performs a basic test for contamination between the probe
rod and the base of the probe by checking for the existence of an electrical short
circuit. If the Short-circuit check fails, it suggests the sensor needs cleaning and
may not be providing reliable measurements.
7.2.4
Self-test Values (Pass levels)
The following table gives the numerical values required for the self-tests to pass:
