The distance between the Min. and Max. levels on the dipstick represents ap-
proximately 1 litre of oil.
• Allow the machine to idle for 5 minutes.
• After 5 minutes, recheck the oil level. If necessary, top up the oil.
• Remove any spilt oil and check the engine for leaks.
Warning:
Insuffi cient oil in the engine can cause irrevocable serious damage to the engine.
12.3 Renewing the oil fi lter
Make a habit of renewing the oil fi lter every second time that the oil is renewed (every 200
hours).
• The oil fi lter is located on the side of the engine just above the oil sump.
• First drain the oil (see § 12.2).
• Place a container underneath the fi lter.
• Unscrew the oil fi lter.
• Smear some new oil on the seal of the new fi lter.
• Tighten the new fi lter until the seal comes into contact with the fi lter adapter.
• Fully tighten the new fi lter by turning it an additional half to three-quarters of a turn.
• Now, fi ll the engine with new engine oil (see 12.2).
