The two electric field probes consists of a ball probe and a stub probe. Each probe re-
sponds primarily to the electric field component and rejects the magnetic field components. The
response of the E-field probes is essentially omni-directional.
E-3.5.3 EM-6992 Applications
The EM-6992 Near Field Probe Set is intended to serve as a versatile aid for diagnostic
testing of radiated emissions from below 100 kHz to 1 GHz. Comparison of the response to both
H-field and E-field probes can provide the relative magnitude of the E-field and H-field of each
component, thus providing a clue toward solving an emissions problem.
E-4.0 Filters
The following is a short description of the various high/low pass and tunable rejection
filters that can be used with the EM-2115.
E-4.1 High/Low Pass Filters
The Electro-Metrics Model EM-7450-1, EM-7450-2 High Pass and Model EM-LPF-
30M, EM-LPF-1000M Low Pass Filters enhance the performance of the EM-2115 Interference
Analyzer by suppressing all frequencies above/below the specified frequency of the filter. This
prevents spurious responses that are frequently encountered in radio noise meters when testing to
MIL-STD-461 and other power line conducted emanations.
The specified cutoff frequencies for each filter are:
a. EM-7450-1: Attenuates all frequencies below 150 kHz.
b. EM-7450-2: Attenuates all frequencies below 30 MHz.
c. EM-LPF-30M: Attenuates all frequencies above 30 MHz.
d. EM-LPF-1000M: Attenuates all frequencies above 1 GHz.
E-4.2 Tunable Rejection Filters
The Electro-Metrics series of tunable rejection filters enhance the performance of the
EM-2115 Interference Analyzer by reducing strong unwanted signals to avoid over-
load/intermodulation effects.
The frequency ranges for each filter are:
a. EM-7831-1: 9 kHz to 100 MHz.
