9 Startup
NOTE
During startup, vent the system as described in chapter 9.2 ! “Venting the metering pump”!
After 24 hours, the metering head screws are to be re-tightened crosswise with a torque of
approximately 12 Nm.
CAUTION
If the metering pipe can be shut off, an overflow valve (safety valve) should be installed on
the pressure side, which opens at the maximum permissible pressure level, in order to
protect the metering line. This may prevent the metering pipe from bursting in the event of
an operator error. Under unfavourable conditions, the pressure may rise to three time the
nominal pressure.

Turn the on/off switch to "I" .

Turn the on/off switch to "0" .
NOTE
The voltage supply to the pump electronics takes place via the integrated frequency
convertor. In order to "de-energise" the pump completely, isolate it completely from the
mains supply. It is not enough to turn the on/off switch to 0.
9.2 Venting the metering pump
NOTE
With an applied metering back-pressure of >0.05 MPa (0.5 bar), the use of a multi-function
valve from our product range is recommended.
Otherwise the fitted ball cock (for recommendation, see chapter 7.1.1 , “Hydraulic Installation
/ Installation samples”, Fig. 7.1) must be opened or the metering line must be otherwise
relieved.
ATTENTION
Particular caution is required when handling chemical metering media!
Metering media may escape which may cause skin irritation, depending on their properties.
Therefore, before venting, always read the product data sheet of the metering medium to
prevent any type of injury!

When using a multi-function valve (see Accessories) for venting, please refer to the
appropriate user's manual.

When using a ball cock (or another venting device), place a suitable collection vessel
under the venting pipe.

Open the ball cock.

Press the TEST button until the metering medium is discharged from the bleed line.
Keep it pressed in for a further 60 seconds in order to fill the pump head completely with
the product.

Close the ball cock (if present/used).

Press the TEST button again until the metering medium visibly passes through the
metering line up to approximately 2 cm in front of the injection valve.

Close the transparent cover to protect the function buttons before changing the setting
values and seal it with lead, if necessary.
NOTE
Repeat the venting process if no metering medium enters the metering line.
