The Eaton xStorage 400 is designed to operate for extended periods of time without maintenance. All xStorage
400 maintenance activities are to be performed by authorized service personnel only. Preventive maintenance
is performed per the schedule in paragraph
9.2 Preventive Maintenance Schedule ; corrective maintenance is
performed on an as-needed basis.

Due to the presence of batteries, the xStorage 400 interior is unsafe until the DC power source is
disconnected, and the electrolytic capacitors are discharged. After disconnecting the utility power and the DC
power, authorized service personnel should wait at least five minutes for capacitor to bleed off before
attempting any internal access.
Servicing and maintenance should be performed by qualified service personnel only.
Because each battery string is an energy source, opening the battery circuit breaker does not de-energize the
voltage within the battery string.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS ANY INTERNAL AREA OF THE BATTERY
STRING YOURSELF. VOLTAGES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT IN THE BATTERY STRING. If you suspect that a
battery string needs service, contact an Eaton service representative.

To ensure reliable operation, the inverter cooling inlet and outlet filters must be kept clear. Do not permit
obstructions (equipment, vehicles, snow) to block these areas.
Preventive maintenance procedures are recorded in the Service Manual. The table below contains the
preventive maintenance activities for the xStorage 400.
