Only authorized an Eaton Customer Service Engineer or qualified service personnel authorized by Eaton may
install the battery system.
Detailed battery system installation instructions are found in the Eaton xStorage 400 Service Manual .
• Servicing must be performed by an authorized Eaton Customer Service Engineer or by qualified service
personnel authorized by Eaton. Keep unauthorized personnel away from batteries.
• Batteries can present a risk of electrical shock or burn from high short circuit current. The following
precautions should be observed: 1) Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects; 2) Use tools with
insulated handles; 3) Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries; 4) Disconnect charging source prior
to connecting or disconnecting battery terminals; 5) Wear voltage rated gloves and electrical hazard
footwear.
• ELECTRIC ENERGY HAZARD. Do not attempt to alter any battery wiring or connectors. Attempting to alter
wiring can cause injury.
A battery lift must be used when maneuvering batteries into and out of the xStorage 400 cabinet. The batteries
used in the xStorage 400 weigh more than 100 lbs. Serious injury will result if a battery lift system is not used.

Paragraph 4.5 External AC Power Wiring Installation requires connecting the power wiring using 2-hole barrel
lugs. See Figure 15 for the hardware sequence when installing the lugs to the bus bars. Tighten the bolt to the
torque value listed in Table 3 .
NOTE Conical washers are special purpose washers that look similar to flat washers, except
for a slight conical shape. When installing conical washers, the top of the dome should
be next to the bolt head and the base of the washer should be against a flat surface such
as a bus bar, flat washer, or large terminal.
