The Eaton xStorage 400 may be shut down for maintenance or testing purposes.
When shut down, the heating and cooling system will not operate to maintain the internal temperature within
the specifications outlined in paragraph
Contact your Eaton service representative if the system must be shut down for an extended period.
Contact your local recycling or hazardous waste center for information on proper disposal of the used xStorage
400 and its internal battery. Additional information may be requested by contacting your Eaton service
representative.

The Eaton xStorage 400 stores electric energy in lithium-ion battery modules and internally transmits DC power
up to 850 V and AC power up to 480 V. Therefore, the xStorage 400 is susceptible to Class B and Class C
fires.
The Safety Data Sheet for the installed batteries is included as an appendix to this manual, see paragraph
.
The electrical equipment of the xStorage 400 has been tested to ensure that it does not pose a significant
threat to the public.
Alarms are sent to the system owner and service organization electronically. No visual indications are provided
on the exterior or interior of the cabinet.
This procedure is intended to be executed as a joint operation between the system owner, service
organization, and emergency response personnel.

1.
At least one of the following indications is present:
a.
xStorage 400 alarm via the remote customer interface indicating abnormally high internal
temperatures.
b.
Smoke or flames are emitting from the xStorage 400.

Prreeccaauuttiioonnss
1.
The cabinet contains hazardous electrical energy.
Hazardous energy may remain in the batteries even after the main AC disconnect is open.
2.
If the fire has damaged the lithium-ion batteries, flammable gas may be generated. See the Hydrogen
Mitigation Procedure for additional details.
3.
Any personnel approaching the cabinet should don full PPE and self-contained breathing apparatus.
Hydrofluoric acid may form if the battery electrolyte comes into contact with water.
