Connecting the Smart-
Wire-DT connection cable

SmartWire-DT slaves in the control panel are connected with
8 pole ribbon cable SWD4-…LF…. Outside the control panel
they are connected with round cable SWD4…LR8-24.

Connecting the SmartWire-DT ribbon cable

SmartWire-DT slaves and some other SmartWire-DT
elements are connected through a SmartWire-DT ribbon
cable. The ends of the ribbon cable are each fitted with a

blade terminal

(part no. SWD4-8MF2).

Several ready-made SmartWire-DT ribbon cables are avail-
able, e.g. part no. SWD4-5LF8-24-2S, which are already
fitted with blade terminals at both ends. Alternatively you
can assemble SmartWire-DT ribbon cables of any length with
blade terminals yourself (

“Fitting the blade terminal

SWD4-8MF2“,page 83). Use ribbon cable SWD4-100LF8-24
(100 m) for this purpose.

You make the connection to the SmartWire-DT slaves via

external device plugs

(part no. SWD4-8SF2-5). You fit the

external device plug to the ribbon cable according to the
position of the SmartWire-DT slave (

“Fitting external

device plugs SWD4-8SF2-5“, page 88).

Connecting SmartWire-DT round cables

Some SmartWire-DT elements, e.g. surface mounting enclo-
sures with an inlaid PCB for RMQ Titan function elements or
switch cabinet bushings are connected via an SmartWire-DT
round cable. You can introduce SmartWire-DT round cables
via a V-M20 cable gland and wire them directly or screw
them on via fitted cable plugs and cable sockets. The config-
uration of the round socket and round plug is shown below.
