Easy-Start ES End-of-Ramp Option
This option is supplied on the same PC board as
the Extended Start Time Option. It senses the
SCR trigger analog voltage and sends out a
signal to tell us whenever the End of Ramp is
reached. This signal indicates that the motor has
reached 100% voltage and the SCRs are
FULL
ON
. This output signal is sent to a relay with 2
Form-C contacts (rated 1 amp 120V ac) which
change state at the
END-OF-RAMP
. These 2
Form-C contacts are brought out to 2 terminal
blocks on the Option Board; (TB21 and TB23).
Some typical applications for this option are:
- By-Pass Contactor control signal.
(Figure 4-3.)
- Sequential Starting of other motors, or
process functions.
This
END-OF-RAMP
option will operate with the
Easy-Start ES in either the Voltage Ramp or
Current Ramp mode. However, it will only send
out a signal whenever the motor voltage reaches
100%. Therefore, when running in the Current
Ramp mode, there may be a time lapse before
the
END-OF-RAMP
signal is executed. The
reason being that the current will usually reach
the end of its ramp-up before the motor reaches
full voltage. This depends on the type of load-
torque and inertia being impressed on the motor.
The
END-OF-RAMP
option can be turned on and
off with DIP switch DS22-2 (
OPEN
=off,
CLOSED
=on) located on the option board.
DS22-2 is factory set to the off position.
Extended Time-Current Option
This option enables the Easy-Start ES to extend
the time and current during Motor Starting. It is
supplied on the same PC board as the Extended
Start Time option.
This feature is helpful when a customer wishes to
start a motor under a current limit which is
beyond the normal current limit range of 200% to
500% of the Easy-Start ES DIP switch setting,
but when the customer still wishes to have
accurate overcurrent protection during normal
ÒrunÓ conditions.
By using an
oversized
Easy-Start ES model,
starting currents of 600% and greater can be
obtained, and still maintain motor protection
during starting and running.
