14.5.4 Final Modem Configuration

The final step in configuring the PC modem for use with the SBM is to turn off the echo
feature of the modem. Perform the following procedure.

NOTE:

The brackets ([ ]) in the following steps indicate characters that require
keying in prior to pressing [ENTER].

1.Connect the modem to the PC as described in the modem manufacturer’s manual.

2.Key in [A], [T], then press [ENTER].

3.Confirm that the modem responds with OK" or 0" (zero).

4.Key in [A], [T], [E], [0] (zero), then press [ENTER].

5.Confirm that the modem responds with OK" or 0" (zero).

6.Key in [A], [T], then press [ENTER].

8.Confirm that the modem responds with OK" or 0" (zero) and that the AT" is not

echoed back to the terminal.

9.Key in [A], [T], [&], [W], [0] (zero), then press [ENTER].

10.Confirm that the modem responds with OK" or 0" (zero).
