Insert the calibration load cell in series with the machine load cell by placing the calibration
load cell phenolic bob into the load cap of the machine load cell. Recall the calibration load
cell has the bolt heads facing up.
Lower the crosshead to engage the two load cells. Press
ENTER
and the
on the machine
keypad simultaneously to increase the down speed of the crosshead. The calibration load
cell should be sitting flat and centered over the barrel hole. As the load cells near each
other release the
ENTER
key and use
. The down arrow key alone will cause the
crosshead to move at a safe slow speed.
Zero the calibration unit by pressing
TARE
on the front of
the display. This needs to be completed before there is force placed on the calibration load
cell.
Continue lower the crosshead until both load cells come in contact and note the force read
on the rheometer display and force read on the calibration display. The values should be
within 0.01%.
