available)
Attention
The ARAS rider assistance systems must have
been previously enabled by your Ducati dealer.
Important
Before reading the contents of this sub-
section, carefully read "Road safety rules" (page 5).
Introduction: Assist System Limitations
Blind Spot Detection (BSD) requires familiarity
with its operational characteristics. We strongly
recommend that the rider reviews all of the
information in this section of the Owner’s Manual
carefully before operating this system. The BSD
cannot detect bicycles, scooters, some motorcycles,
pedestrians, animals, stationary objects (such as
parked vehicles, toll booths, traffic dividers), and
vehicles with high ground clearance, raised
suspension, or an overhanging load.The sections
below provide important additional information
regarding the BSD’s capabilities and limitations.
The rider is and must always remain responsible for
safely operating the motorcycle even if there are
assist systems (such as BSD) on it.
Assist systems, such as the BSD, analyze
surrounding situations making a logical prediction of
events that may occur based on the information the
system processes.
These systems are only designed to assist the rider;
they are not autonomous riding systems intended to
replace the rider. The rider is always responsible for
choosing the appropriate riding style and for
adopting the level of caution and attention required
by the specific road, traffic and weather conditions,
as well as respecting the local laws.
These systems use predictions that depend upon
and are impacted by the environmental context and
the possible recognition of surrounding objects.
Therefore, the rider must not rely on the "ability" of
the assist system to understand the environmental
context in which the motorcycle is being operated
(e.g. the shape of certain objects, their surface, their
static/dynamic position) because the way the
objects enter the radar sensor’s visual space may
cause the assist system not to understand this
