Transmission Hydraulic System
The hydraulic circuit mainly consists of the torque
converter charging pump which generates the
hydraulic pressure, and the control valve which
transmits the hydraulic pressure to the multi-disc
clutch inside the transmission. The control valve
contains a built-in modulating valve which reduces
the shock at selecting the direction.
Oil Flow

When the engine starts, the charging pump is
driven and the oil inside the transmission case is
pumped through a strainer.

The oil from the pump (2) passes through the
main relief valve (3) and goes towards the inlet
port of the torque converter (9). The main relief
valve (3) acts to raise the pressure of the oil until it
is high enough to operate the clutch and to send
the oil to the control valve. The oil pressure at the
inlet port of the torque converter (9) has no
relation with the pressure of the relief valve.

The torque converter inlet port relief valve (7) is
located at the torque converter inlet, and acts to
suppress the increased pressure in the torque
converter to approx. max. 700 Kpa (101.5psi).

The oil which was circulated through the torque
converter (9) is drained from the torque converter
outlet port and flows to the torque converter outlet.
The torque converter outlet acts to raise the
pressure within the torque converter approx. min.
200 Kpa (29 psi) and it is regularly opened after
the engine is started.

The oil pressure passing through the torque
converter outlet port goes towards the torque
converter cooler (10), lubricates all parts, then
returns to the transmission case.
Main Relief Valve (3)
Oil from the pump (2) flows to the main relief valve
(3). The regulator valve relieves the oil pressure
produced by the charging pump of the torque
convertor (9) at the specified pressure to protect the
valve and torque convertor oil cooler (10).
Inching valve (4)
Oil from the pump (2) also goes to inching valve (4)
which modulates the pressure being fed to the
directional valve (6). As the inching valve (4) moves
out, pressure will drop. When completely out, clutch
feed pressure will drop to zero. Through the use of
the inching valve (4), the lift truck can move slowly
while the engine is at higher speeds. This lets the
operator move the lift truck slowly up to a load while
the mast is raised rapidly.
Modulating Valve (5)
The modulating valve (5) is a device to modulate the
fluid. It reduces the shock when gear shift lever is
operated, when the truck starts suddenly or when
inching operations are being used.
Directional Valve (Solenoid) (6)
The directional valve (6) controls oil flow to the
forward and reverse clutch packs.
