A Word About Back Flush:
Your Dolphin Whole Home Water System is supplied with an
automatic back flush valve. This valve enables you to extend
the life of the media by:
1. The removal of sediment which has been collected.
2. Repositioning the media, which will then realign the
ineffective saturated surface area with a fresh and
effective surface to better remove contaminants.
3. Filter life is not extended by removal of adsorbed organic
material. The “fluffing” action which takes place will not
remove adsorbed organic material since the bonding
process is not distributed by backwashing.
4. The fluffing process
(backwash)
is controlled by the
backwash assembly valve. It re-routes the water down
the center riser tube and is distributed by the gravel bed
at the bottom of the tank which allows for even
distribution from this reverse flow. The now upward flow
will gently agitate the media thus accomplishing the sed-
iment removal
(out through the upper distributor)
and the
“re-shuffling” of the media itself. This action is governed
directly by the back flow rate and it is controlled by a
restrictor placed in the backwash portion of the valve.
