Installation Instructions
Place the tank in the spot you wish to install it. Remove
the black shipping cap from top of filter and then remove
plastic bag/sleeve covering riser tube located inside the
filter.
(Plastic bag shipping sleeve is covered with red tape)
Next install the plastic upper distributor onto the bottom
portion of backwash valve. Push the upper distributor into
base and twist clockwise.
BE CAREFUL not to cross thread the valve when installing
it onto tank. A procedure to help prevent cross threading
is to rotate the valve backwards (counter clockwise) while
lowering the valve onto the tank until you can feel the first
threads ”click” over each other then screw valve onto tank.
Use caution to keep the valve straight while lowering onto
the riser tube. By keeping the valve straight while lowering,
you will allow the tube to stay centered on the valve, and
the insertion of the tube up into the valve center body will
be easier. As the riser tube enters the valve body it will be
gripped by an “O” ring located in the bottom of the valve,
where at that time the valve lowering/rotation will feel a
little snug as the valve is lowered toward thread engage-
ment. Once the tank threads and valve threads meet, you
will hear a light click while rotating the valve backwards.
You now may begin to rotate the valve clockwise until it is
hand tight. Do not over tighten.
