Turn the system off for
10 seconds, then turn
it back on. Unplug
the terminal cable,
communications cable,
and printer. Then plug
all cables back in and
power up the system.
The power-up display
does not appear within
20 seconds.
The terminal cable is
not connected.
Check that the terminal
cable is plugged in at
both ends.
The power outlet may
not be working.
Try a lamp that you
know works in the outlet.
The terminal fuse may
have blown.
Check the brightness
and contrast controls.
Replace blown terminal
fuse.
Terminal settings may
be incorrect.
See the terminal
documentation. The
terminal should be set to
9600 baud, 8 bits, and no
parity.
Problem with console
port.
Power down the system.
Check the position of the
break enable switch on
the rear of the system
unit . See ‘‘Identify
the System Unit Ports
and Connectors’’ in
Chapter 2. The switch
should be in the down
position for the console
terminal connected to
MMJ port 1.
The position of the break enable switch is only read during power-up.
