Connect power cables
The rack that contains the X400 Appliance should contain two PDUs that are each
connected to different power sources for redundancy. Redundant power sources
allow one AC source to fail or be serviced without impacting X400 Appliance
operation. Connect PSU 0 to one AC source, and PSU 1 to the other AC source.
Connect iDRAC cables
Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) configuration and cabling provides
an out-of-band method for remote management and may be required for Dell EMC
support engineers to debug and troubleshoot. Customers may disconnect this cabling
during normal operation, however it may be necessary to reconnect at the direction of
Dell EMC support. iDRAC connections are 1 GbE-BaseT.
iDRAC configuration is strongly recommended, but not required. It is strongly
recommended because iDRAC can be used:

to power the X400 nodes on and off for required maintenance activities.
l
by Dell EMC support to gather detailed information about the state of the
hardware.
An X400 Appliance has a minimum of five iDRAC connections/hostnames (1 GbE
RJ-45) for each of the four X400 platform cube sleds and one X400 capacity cube.
The maximum number of iDRAC connections in an appliance is eight (one X400
platform cube and four X400 capacity cubes). The 1 GbE management switch to
which the iDRAC cables connect must have RJ-45 connections.
The number of cat 5/6 cables required to connect the iDRAC ports on the X400 cubes
to the network switch(es) depends on the number of X400 capacity cubes in the
X400 Appliance, as shown in the following table.

The following figure illustrates iDRAC cabling from a X400 platform cube and two
X400 capacity cubes to a Dell N2048 (48 x RJ45 10/100/1000Mb) top-of-rack switch.
(Note that you can use any type of switch, as long as it is an RJ45 switch that
supports 1 GbE and VLAN.) You should connect the iDRAC ports to the external
(routable) network VLAN.
