This item selects the default font and character pitch to be used when the printer receives simple ASCII text or
no other font is specified by the host application. The fonts listed above are contained in the printer firmware,
but additional bit-mapped fonts may be downloaded. Please refer to the
DP-5XX Programmer’s Manual

Scalable Font Set
Possible Values: Default Scalable*, Downloaded Font Sets
This item selects the font set to be used when a host application requests that a font be scaled to a larger size.
This provides fonts that have a “smoother” appearance when enlarged. For more information on using
emulations and downloading fonts, please refer to the
DP-5XX Programmer’s Manual
.
Resident Font Set
Possible Values: Default Resident*, Downloaded Font Sets
This item selects the font set to be used in conjunction with the particular printer control language emulation
being used. This provides printer output that more closely represents the printer being emulated than might be
accomplished with the fonts initially included in the printer firmware. For more information on using
emulations and downloading fonts, please refer to the
DP-5XX Programmer’s Manual
.
Character Placement
Possible Values: Fixed Width*, Fixed Space
This item selects the horizontal spacing method used between characters. Fixed Width is used when all
characters are to take up the same amount of horizontal space regardless of the actual size of the character
(mono-space). Fixed Space is used when each character is to take up only enough horizontal space to print the
actual character shape (proportional).
Character Space (%)
Possible Values: 0* … 100 in increments of 5
This item selects the amount of additional horizontal white space to be placed between each character. For
Fixed Width Character Placement, start with a value of 0% and make adjustments as needed for the desired
output. For Fixed Space Character Placement, start with a value of 20%.
