10.4.3 Alarm
Setup
The pictures under the Alarm Setup menu item determine the conditions that will
cause the controller to report an alarm. Alarms can be generated based on measure-
ment data from all relevant sensors, i.e. depending on the selected application, there
are a number of Alarm Setup pictures.
Limits
These settings determine the levels at which the alarm status changes. This is illus-
trated in Figure 8 on page 65.

Description
Max
Default value:
160 °C
Range:
0-250 °C
When the measured temperature is above
Max, the alarm status has the value
“Max range”
High
Default value:
160 °C
Range:
0-250 °C
When the temperature is above High but
below Max, the alarm status has the
value “High limit”
Low
Default value:
–60 °C
Range:
–100-100 °C
When the temperature lies between Low
and High, the alarm status has the value
“Normal”
Min
Default value:
–60 °C
Range:
–100-100 °C
When the temperature is between Min
and Low, the alarm status has the value
“Low Limit”. When the temperature lies
below Min, the alarm status is “Min
range”
In some applications, the settings High and Low cannot be modified directly but are
assigned one common value. If you try to modify High or Low, the ECL 2000 dis-
plays a picture allowing you to specify an interval around the common High/Low
setting. The upper and lower limits of this interval will function as the High and Low
alarm limit, respectively.
P3
The column P3 is only displayed if the output P3 is set up as alarm output (see
page 33). The setting in this column determines whether the output P3 should react to
the corresponding alarm limit.
Note:
Using P3 as an alarm output is only possible in some applications.
