f. The second illustration shows the traditional (non-protected method)
output wiring method to deliver timing to network elements. All timing outputs
are running actively, and the network element makes the decision to take
timing on port A or port B. This can be done with any 10-output card type, or
with any 20-output card type that has a jumper set for Non-protected
operation.
g. The third illustration shows the new Protected method. This is most likely
used for network elements with a single timing port, such as a channel
bank, so this is more likely to be found in use on a pair of Model 54572
composite clock output cards. Due to the degree of wiring congestion
around the wirewrap pins, it is recommended to install the Tip-Tip and
Ring-Ring jumper wires prior to adding the main wire pairs going to the
network elements.
