An on-card power converter provides the necessary circuit voltages from the
diode-combined A and B -48 volt battery supplies. The on-card fuse, if it
blows, lights the red FAIL LED and provides battery to the Fuse Alarm bus
connecting to pin 10 on the backplane terminal strip TB1.
5.4 Model 54513 Input Card
5.4010 Model 54513 Input Card is an alternative to the T1/E1/2048 KHz input cards. It
enables the system to use 64 KHz composite clock, 5 MHz, or 10 MHz input
as a reference signal for clock synchronization. These input signals can be
sine or square wave and input impedance can be 100, 120, or 133 ohms,
balanced or unbalanced.
One 54513 card is used in conjunction with each 54522, 54523, 54591, or
54593 track and hold card in the StarClock 200E system. It is configured at the
factory for composite clock, 5 MHz, or 10 MHz operation.
5.41 Functions
5.4110 The Model 54513 Input Card performs the following functions:
a. In conjunction with circuitry on the backplane, provides terminating,
bridging, and monitor inputs for the CC/5 MHz/10 MHz reference signal.
b. Recovers data and clock from the received signal for use by the track and
hold card.
c. Sends clock signals to the output cards.
d. Provides monitoring and alarm information to the 54560 Alarm Interface
Card in the event of loss of input signal (LOS).
e. Includes one-wire interface to 54550 for reporting personality (Model, List,
Issue, revisions, CXR Larus serial number, and other customer designated
data), framing, light-emitting diode (LED) status, and slot ID.
5.42 Circuit
Description
Refer to the 54513 Input Card block diagram, Figure 5-3, in the following
discussion.
5.4210 Frequency
Conversion
The composite input card converts the input signal to the standard 1.544 MHz
square wave which maintains phase correlation (byte sync). This means that
output from the card is 1.544 MHz square wave, equivalent to the input signal
in terms of frequency/phase variation.
