as a link up, link down, or syslog event, the agent sends notification, also known as SNMP trap, to the
designated management station immediately.
PIX Firewall SNMP
For Cisco MIB files and OIDs, refer to:
http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml
MIBs—The PIX Firewall unit supports these MIBs which can be browsed by management stations:
MIB-II—System and Interface groups only.
❍
Cisco Firewall MIB—cfwSystem group only.
❍
Cisco Memory Pool MIB.
❍
Cisco syslog MIB—Browsing of the Cisco syslog MIB is not supported. All SNMP variables
supported in the PIX Firewall are read only (RO).
❍
●
OIDs—The SNMP MIB mib-2.system.sysObjectID variable now provides one of the following PIX
Firewall platform-specific Object IDs which can be viewed by management stations, such as CiscoView:
●
506—.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cisco.ciscoProducts.ciscoPIXFirewall506
(same as .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.389)
515—.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cisco.ciscoProducts.ciscoPIXFirewall515
(same as .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.390)
520—.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cisco.ciscoProducts.ciscoPIXFirewall520

535—.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cisco.ciscoProducts.ciscoPIXFirewall535

For other PIX Firewall platforms:
.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cisco.ciscoProducts.ciscoPIXFirewall (same as
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.227)
Traps—The PIX Firewall supports many SNMP traps. The logging command lets you enable or disable
sending informational messages to an SNMP management station. The SNMP message level can be set
with PDM or with the logging history command and the syslog message level is set with the logging trap
command.
●
PIX Firewall supports a maximum of 32 management stations. The command snmp-server host lists the IP
addresses of all management stations (clients) to the PIX Firewall agent (server).
For more information on the PIX Firewall and SNMP, refer to "Advanced Configurations" in the Cisco Secure
PIX Firewall Configuration Guide for your respective software version.
