Tool for assessing the alignment of the hindfoot.

SETUP AND USE

The hand is oriented parallel to the hindfoot axis and the
value  of  valgus  or  varus  is  immediately  readable  in
degrees. The limits of normality cannot be indicated in an
absolute  way,  since  they  vary  in  relation  to  age  and
loading  methods (mono  or  bipodalic);  however  one can
roughly  indicate  as  a  threshold  of  attention  a  valgus
greater  than  10  °,  any  varus  value  and  significant
asymmetries between the two sides. In doubtful cases, it is
not so much the absolute value as the trend over time that

can guide us for a physiological situation or not and for this
purpose the instrument, due to its ease of use and
precision, is particularly useful.
