Line  pressure  is  fed  to  the:

4.  Manual  Valve

From   the  manual  control  valve  line  pressure  form s drive  oil  and  is  fed  to  the:

1.  Forw ard  Clutch

2.  G overnor
3.  1-2  Shift  Valve
4.  2-3  Shift  Valve
5.  Interm ediate  Servo (as  R.N.D .  oil)

Basic  C ontro l

W hen  the  selector  lever  is  m oved  to  the  drive  position,  the  manual  valve

directs  line  pressure  to  the  R .N .D .  and  drive  ports.  R .N .D .  pressure  strokes  the

 

2-3  accum ulator  so  that  it  is  prepared  to  cushion  the  2-3  clutch  for  an  upshift. 

T he  1-2  accum ulator  has  already  been  stroked  w ith   line  oil  to  prepare  it  to 

cushion  the  1-2  clutch.

Drive  oil  applies  the  forward  clutch,  feeds  the governor  and  also  the  1-2  and

2-3  shift  valves.

Sum m ary

Drive  oil  is  directed  to  the  forward  clutch  and  is  regulated  to  a  variable 

pressure  called  governor  pressure  at  the governor  assem bly.

G overn or  pressure  increases  w ith   sp eed   and  acts  against  the  e n d s  o f   the 

1-2  and  2-3  shift  valves,  and  the  m odulator  valve.
