CMT 130 Book Trimmer

ADJ 4.9 External Conveyors Belt
Check

The belts of the In-feed, Hand-feed, and Exit
Conveyors are all checked by the same proce-
dure.

WARNING

Disconnect and lockout power as described
in the Power Lockout Procedure on page viii.

Procedure

1. Remove the end cover on the drive end of

the conveyor.

2. Inspect the timing belt. Is it free of cracks

and excessive wear?

Y N

a. To replace the timing belt, remove the

plastic cover from the conveyor.

b. Loosen the conveyor belt tensioning

screws.

c. Remove the conveyor belt pulley cover

if installed.

d. Remove the other end cover.

e. Remove the conveyor table. The

mounting screws are located under-
neath the table and can be accessed
through both open ends of the conveyor
case.

Disconnect the conveyor belt drive pul-
ley from the table.

g. Inspect the conveyor belt. Is it free of

holes, tears, or excessive edge fraying?

Replace the conveyor belt (PL 5.39 Tilt
Conveyor 56600 (2/8), PL 5.40 Tilt Con-
veyor 56600 (3/8), PL 5.43 Tilt Con-
veyor 56600 (6/8), or PL 5.55 Exit Conv.
56420 (2/3)).

h. Replace the timing belt (PL 5.39 Tilt

Conveyor 56600 (2/8), PL 5.40 Tilt Con-
veyor 56600 (3/8), PL 5.43 Tilt Con-
veyor 56600 (6/8), or PL 5.55 Exit Conv.
56420 (2/3)). The timing belt must be
on the conveyor belt drive pulley before
reinstalling the drive pulley.

Reinstall the conveyor belt drive pulley.

Reinstall the conveyor table.

k. Reinstall the end cover on the non-drive

end of the conveyor.

Reinstall the conveyor belt pulley cover.

m. Perform ADJ 4.10 Conveyor Belt Adjust-

ment

3. Inspect the timing belt. Is it tight (no sag)?

a. Loosen the screws that mount the motor

bracket to the conveyor housing.

b. Slide the motor bracket to remove ten-

sion the timing belt.

c. Re-tighten the motor bracket mounting

screws.

4. Reinstall the end cover on the drive end of

the conveyor.
