C.E.S. Model SDI-50 Manual, General Description
and thus permit access to the interconnect. This type of connection
denies access and control to the interconnect if a mobile station does
not have the proper CTCSS tone. If CTCSS or DCS isn't used, place
JMP6 in D/A.
First, determine your CTCSS decoder's output signal when it detects
the proper CTCSS tone. Jumper 6 shouid be in one of the two following
positions for CTCSS use:
> Jumper JMP6 shouid be in position D/B if the CTCSS decoder’s
output is normally high (or high impedance) and goes to ground in
the presence of a valid tone.
Note: If the CTCSS decoder's output is open collector, a suitable
value pull-up resistor shouid be installed between E3 and E4 on
the SDI-50 PC board.
> Jumper JMP6 shouid be in position D/C if the CTCSS
decoder'soutput is normally low and goes to a positive voltage in
the presence of the proper tone.
The COR/CTCSS LED on the front panel should light each time the proper
CTCSS or DCS tone is transmitted.
Some decoders may only provide a small voltage change when detecting
the proper tone. Resistor R45 enables the installer to set the
reference of the voltage comparator to the midpoint between the high
and low signals from the CTCSS decoder. Set the voltage at pin 2 of
U17 to the midpoint by adjusting R45.
Example:
D.C. voltage from decoder with no CTCSS = .7v
D.C. voltage from decoder with CTCSS = 1.9v
1.9V - .7V = 1.2V (output change)
1.2V / 2 = .6V (midpoint of change)
•7V (low end) + .6 (midpoint) = 1.3V
Set the voltage at pin 2 of U17 to 1.3v and place JMP6 in D/C since
this output goes positive with tone.
4.1.9 TB1-24 RECEIVER DISCRIMINATOR AUDIO
This connection supplies unfiltered discriminator audio from the
receiver to the interconnect for processing. THIS CONNECTION MUST BE
MADE DIRECTLY TO THE DISCRIMINATOR OUTPUT IN THE ASSOCIATED RECEIVER.
Because the SDI-50 has its own internal squeich circuits, and needs to
detect carrier for proper operation, do not connect the RECEIVER
DISCRIMINATOR AUDIO line after any de-emphasis circuits, or any
squeich circuits. Improper operation of the interconnect will result.
Be sure to use shielded cable with the shield terminated at the
interconnect's ground.
