The target will contain approximately 46 litres of
water up to the reference level:
-
34.3 litres of cooling water
- 11.7 litres of moderating water
The two different kinds of water will be placed on
two different containers. The moderating water
will be removed first (as it is cleaner than the
cooling water), to avoid contaminating the
evacuating circuit.

Comments:
This is to be done by the monorail hoist in the
technical gallery using remote handling.
The target will be moved along the Technical Gallery
and lowered through the trapdoor.
The area below the trapdoor will be prepared for
draining. It will be covered in plastic sheets.
A draining tray measuring 1500x1500x250 mm will
be placed on top of an 800 mm spacer block. The
block has two purposes, ease the robot’s access, and
raise the draining tray so the water will flow out of it.
The 800 mm spacer block will be placed on a
palette/two beams, to facilitate its handling.
The 800 mm spacer will be slightly inclined (a few
degrees), so that the water inside the tray will flow
towards a draining point. From the draining point,
there will be 2 pipes, one leading to the cooling
water container, and another for the moderating
water container (valves will be installed in both
pipes).
Between the target and the draining tray, there will
be an additional 200/250 mm spacer (to be decided
by EN-SMM), This will ensure that the robot drilling
arm can access the draining hole locations without
problems.
