Indentor or lower part of the pre-rounding die
can be inserted or removed from its
seat in the ram (2) by pulling the release knob (21) outwards.
Be careful with its location with respect to the split pin (13) in the ram (2).
4.3) Pre-rounding conductor with section of 400,500 and 630 mm²
– Select the pre-rounding dies to be used, according to table
A
.
– Locate the lower part of the pre-rounding die (91) into the ram (2) by pulling knob (21).
– Introduce the conductor into the pre-rounding die upper part (99) and then place the
upper part into the

adaptor.
– Operate the pump until the upper and lower parts of the pre-rounding die are fully
closed.
Release the hydraulic pressure on the pump to remove the compacted round conductor
(see §
6.4
).
4.4) Connector crimping
– From table
B,
select the containing die and indentor recommended for the conductor size.
– Insert the indentor
PS 230...
(88) into the ram (2) by pulling knob (21).
– Insert the conductor in the connector.
– Locate the connector into the containing die (89); locate the containing die in the adap-
tor. Commence indent crimping from the barrel end for both splices and terminals, fol-
lowing the sequence in Fig. 1. For every operation ensure the die is correctly located in
the adaptor with its upper slots in line with the internal adaptor pins.
– Each indenting operation is completed when indentor and die are fully closed;
it is recommended to continue pumping until the maximum pressure valve is activated
and a "click" is heard (see §
6.3
).

5.1) Fitting adaptors into the ram seat
– Adaptors

must be inserted into the seat of the ram (2) by
pulling knob (21); when completely inserted, release knob (21).
5.2) Fitting adaptors into the fork guides
– The adaptors
AU230-150
and
AU230-240
must be inserted into the guides of the fork
and pushed until locked in the operating position (when the grooves on the sides of the
dies correspond with the grub screws (10) on the arms of the fork (8).
