Common Features and Functionality
The M650H:
• Is a self-contained, high-performance, low-
maintenance and easy-to-install solar-powered
light source.
• Is programmed for geographical location to
optimize output and prevent a user from potentially
damaging the product.
• Is suitable for a range of marine and obstruction
applications.
• Is visible from up to approximately 4 nautical miles
(7 kilometres), depending on the solar energy
available at the installation location and the
selected Flash Code.
• Is durable and reliable with double o-ring sealing.
• Offers dusk-to-dawn operation with programmable
transition levels.
• Features a replaceable Battery Pack.
• Has a tool-less removable Bottom Cover for
accessing the On-Board User Interface (OBUI).

Introduction
M650H Applications
The
M650H Solar Marine Lantern
has the following
marking applications:
• Aids to navigation
• Marina and dock Lighting
• Port lighting
• Oil and offshore platforms
• Channel boundaries
• River mouths
• Marina entrances
• Extended structures such as aquaculture floats or
breakwaters
The M650H is available with optional GPS flash
synchronization. Like Carmanah's larger GPS-
equipped solar marine lanterns, the M650H uses
the precise timing signal of GPS satellites to
synchronize its flash pattern with other M650H
lanterns. The M650H is also designed to harmonize
with Carmanah's other GPS-equipped lanterns, which
means a mix of different models all flash perfectly
together. No special programming is required - the
GPS synchronization function works automatically as
soon as the lantern is deployed.
Synchronized flashing is very effective in overcoming
background shore lighting and clearly marking
the boundaries of water systems or the physical
dimensions of floating structures.
With synchronized flashing, the M650H also satisfies
the US Coast Guard's PATON Part 67 regulations that
require unison flashing where multiple lanterns mark
an obstruction.ut (green).
The M650H does not use latitude and longitude
information from the GPS satellite network. Latitude
and Longitude must be set by the distributor using the
650 Device Manager software.
